Isle of Islay
Today we take the scenic coastal journey to Kennacraig where you will take the morning ferry crossing to the ‘Queen of the Hebrides’ - Islay. Enjoy the stunning views of Jura and Gigha as you make your way over the water landing at Port Ellon around lunchtime. We will have a visit to a local distillery where you will have time to explore the visitor centre, shop and maybe even have a wee dram. Enjoy a tour of the beautiful island before returning to the mainland from Port Askaig late afternoon. Have a relaxing cruise back to the mainland onboard Calmac ferry before arriving back to the hotel in Oban in the evening, where you will be welcomed back and served a delicious dinner. (Approx return time to the hotel 7pm, ferries sailings are subject to change)
Cruachan Hollow Mountain Visitor Centre
Today we take the short journey to the Hollow Mountain Visitor Centre situated amongst some of Scotland's most beautiful scenery. Hidden deep within the mountain of Ben Cruachan on the shores of Loch Awe is Cruachan Power Station one of the country's most amazing engineering achievements where you can discover one of the hidden wonders of the Highlands. We return to the Royal Hotel for a delightful Afternoon Tea served in the lounge.
Oban & Seil Island
Enjoy a morning at your leisure in Oban before the coach takes you the 12 mile journey south over the Clachan Bridge to Seil Island, one of the Slate Islands where we visit Ellenabeich - a small village full of white-washed cottages which are featured in Ring of Bright Water. The Slate Islands were the centre of the Scottish Slate Industry during the 18th & 19th Centuries and you will have time to visit the Heritage Centre on Seil, or take the 5 minute ferry crossing to Easedale (not included) where you can explore the small island by foot. The coach will take you back to Oban late afternoon in time for your dinner in the hotel restaurant.
