Join the coach for the first day of your holiday touring the most admired areas of Scotland, arriving in the fishing port of Oban and our Royal Hotel for the first of two nights. Enjoy welcome drinks before a delicious 3-course evening meal in the restaurant. Oban is the Seafood Capital of Scotland, and offers many attractions, shops and magnificent views over to the Inner Hebrides.
Today you travel on the morning ferry from Oban over to the Isle of Mull. Landing at Craignure, the coach will travel to Fionnphort, the most westerly point of the island, where you take the short ferry crossing on foot to the small and magical Island of Iona. Explore the island’s most valued treasures including the Abbey founded by St Columba in 563, the Augustine nunnery and Rèilig Odhrain; burial ground of many early Scottish Kings. The coach will travel back across the beautiful Isle of Mull for the ferry crossing to the mainland late afternoon. Watch out for local wildlife during your ferry trip, as you can easily spot dolphins, whales and basking sharks in the clear blue waters surrounding the boat.
Board the coach after a hearty Scottish breakfast and say goodbye to Oban as we travel north towards Fort William along the banks of Loch Linnhe. We have a short stop near Castle Stalker at Port Appin for photographs before arriving into the town of Fort William. Time to explore the shops and grab some lunch before the coach takes you to Glenfinnan Viaduct where you can view the magnificent monument in honour of Charles Edward Stuart and the magnificent setting of the surrounding glen. Travel on to the fishing village Mallaig where you board the diesel train for the world famous West Highland Line journey, through the most stunning mountains and seascapes back towards Fort William. Then check in to the Alexandra Hotel for your first of two nights stay here.
Today you enjoy a scenic journey north to visit the Isle of Skye. Travelling from Fort William along the banks of Loch Lochy, Loch Duich & Loch Long where you will stop for a short time to enjoy the magnificent views at Eilean Donan Castle, before passing by Kyle of Lochalsh and crossing the bridge “over the sea to Skye”. Sit back and enjoy the breath-taking views of the famous Black Cuillin mountains, the small isles Scalpay and Raasay before arriving at the beautiful harbour town of Portree, where you will have time to sample all the local shops and attractions and enjoy the unforgettable views over Loch Portree. After your enjoyable Hebridean excursion, the coach will travel back to the hotel in Fort William in time for a delicious dinner in the restaurant and an evening of light entertainment.
After a hearty Scottish breakfast in the hotel you have a morning at your leisure in Fort William. Explore the shops and the towns attractions, or simply relax in the hotel and enjoy a spot of lunch in the brassiere before the journey continues North along the banks of Loch Ness mid-afternoon. Pass the impressive remains of Urquhart Castle which offer lovely views over Loch Ness and then we cross over the Moray Firth to Ross-shire and arrive in the Victorian spa town of Strathpeffer at our Ben Wyvis Hotel for your overnight stay. Enjoy a welcome drink before your delicious evening meal.
After a full-cooked breakfast, join the coach for a full day’s adventure along the eastern North Coast 500 route, also known as ‘Scotland's Route 66’. Some of the most breathtaking scenery is here to see as we skim along the banks of lochs and through glens of unspoilt wilderness. We stop in Ullapool, a colourful harbour town which perches on the edge of Loch Broom and peers across the water to the Summer Isles and Outer Hebrides. We then travel along the banks of Loch Ewe to the Highland village setting of Gairloch. Set on the shores of a sea loch, the village offers wonderful views to the Isle of Skye, amazing walks along the golden sandy beaches and Gairloch Musuem, set in a repurposed nuclear bunker. We travel back to the hotel along the banks of beautiful Loch Maree - a most stunning journey through our native and unspoilt Scottish Highlands.
This morning we depart the Ben Wyvis Hotel and travel through the scenic areas of the Moray Firth and the Cairngorm Mountain Range before arriving in Blair Atholl, to visit and tour Blair Castle. A jewel in Perthshire's crown, this magnificent 13th castle houses generations of hunting trophies, paintings and textiles and is the garrison for Europe's only private army - the Atholl Highlanders. In the afternoon some time to explore the pretty town of Pitlochry before our overnight stay in what is reputedly Scotland's oldest hotel - The Salutation Hotel in Perth.
After breakfast and a few hours in the morning spent in Perth, join the coach for your return journey back home.
