Excursions

Day 1

Once aboard the coach enjoy the journey north to our hotel in the Highlands for your overnight stay. Enjoy a bubbly drinks reception before a delicious dinner in the restaurant and then relax in the lounge before your journey to some of the most beautiful Islands in Scotland. 

 

Day 2

After breakfast enjoy a scenic journey north to visit the Isle of Skye. Travelling along the banks of Loch Lochy, Loch Duich and Loch Long where you will stop for a short time to enjoy the magnificent views at Eilean Donan Castle, before passing by Kyle of Lochalsh and crossing the Skye Bridge. Sit back and enjoy the breath-taking views of the famous Black Cuillin mountains, the small isles Scalpay and Raasay before arriving at the beautiful harbour town of Portree, where you will have time to sample all the local shops and attractions. We then travel further west to Uig where we catch the afternoon ferry crossing to Tarbert on the Isle of Harris.  We travel north to Stornoway for the first of three night stay in the Caladh Inn near the harbour, where you will enjoy a warm welcome and delicious food.

 

Day 3

A full day tour of Lewis today as we visit some of the famous sights here including the standing stones at Callanish, erected 5000 years ago in an extraordinary cruciform shape.  There is a visitor centre nearby to learn all about the mystical stones. After time here, travel north to see the Blackhouse at No 42. Arnol, a fully furnished thatched house that gives a special insight into how life was on the island many years ago. Exlpore the cottage and attached barns then take a scenic journey back towards Stornoway passing by unspoilt landscapes and beautiful lochs, arriving back in time for dinner.

 

Day 4

After breakfast enjoy time to yourself in Stornoway to explore all of its sights including Lews Castle and Museum Nan Eilean, the towns’ Art Centre and many gift and craft shops. Optional afternoon tour 30 minutes north of Stornoway to the beautiful and secluded Garry Beach where you can enjoy a walk along the sand and the peace & tranquility of the island.

 

Day 5

After an early breakfast we depart Stornoway on the morning ferry crossing to Ullapool.  After arriving here with some time to explore the fishing village, the coach will take you south through the stunning scenery of Wester Ross for your last night stay with us in the Alexandra Hotel, Fort William.  Arriving early afternoon you will have time to relax in the lounge bar before your drinks reception and delicious evening meal served in the restaurant. There will be some light evening entertainment to follow.

 

Day 6

After a full breakfast, we depart the hotel in the morning for the return journey back home.

This property is 6 minutes walk from the beach. Stornoway's largest hotel, Caladh Inn is just half a mile to Stornoway Lewis Ferry Terminal and less than 3 miles from Stornoway Airport. Free Wi-Fi and free private parking are available. Rooms at the Caladh Inn offer complimentary mix of colour and neutral shades and they are all equipped with an en suite bathroom, a TV and tea and coffee making facilities.
