DAY 1
Journey north as we travel to the Isle of Skye today. We break up the journey and have a stop in Fort William before enjoying the beautiful scenery towards Skye. Arrive in Broadford and the Dunollie Hotel will be your comfortable base for the next 4 nights. Dinner this evening is served in the restaurant.
DAY 2
After a hearty Scottish breakfast we explore the north coast of the island. We visit Portree, the isles main town and fishing haven. There are shops and cafes to enjoy as well as the sweeping views over Loch Portree. We travel along by Loch Fada and by the towering Old Man of Storr. Onwards along the coast to Kilt Rock Waterfall for a stop to view this amazing natural wonder. An Corran Beach is the famous location of recent dinosaur footprint finds and you have time to see if you can spot them before we travel around the north tip of the isle to the Skye Life Museum which is a collection of thatched crofts showing how life was for the islands earlier inhabitants. Enjoy the journey back to the hotel in Broadford and we have a stop at the Isle of Skye Candle Shop near Portree beforehand.
DAY 3
After breakfast, join the coach for your day out to Dunvegan Castle. We stop for photos at the Old Sligachan Bridge, before travelling along to Dun Beag Broch - one of the best preserved broch towers in Skye. Along by the beautiful sea lochs to Dunvegan Castle & Gardens, Enjoy your tour of Scotland’s oldest occupied castle before we return to the hotel via Dunvegan village where you have time to explore Giant McAskill’s Museum, St Mary’s Cemetery ruins & Duirinish Stone and Hebridean Alpaca store. We return via Edinbane and have a visit to the village Pottery Shop which had been making beautiful cermaic items wince 1971. Return to Broadford in time for evening meal.
DAY 4
After time for breakfast, we travel to see the magnificent Eilean Donan Castle today and enjoy a wildlife cruise on the Seaprobe Atlantis in Kyle of Lochalsh. Enjoy the journey along the coast and over the Skye Bridge towards the castle, and explore this iconic building inside and out. Time in Kyle of Lochalsh for you to have lunch before your 1 hour glass-bottomed boat cruise of the bay. The warm waters here are brimming with sea-life including grey seals, otters, crabs and the occasional dolphin or whale visit. You’re very lucky if you spot one of these on your trip! We return to Broadford where you can enjoy time at leisure.
DAY 5
We depart the hotel in Skye this morning after breakfast and enjoy the scenic journey back home.
Please note there are many other notable sights found in and around the Isle of Skye however are in remote locations or and many are inaccessible by large coach. Visiting these sights would involve a good deal of walking hence not possible.Warm and waterproof clothing along with suitable footwear is recommended for all excursions. This tour includes some amount of walking to sites of interest, and we advise this may not be suitable for those with mobility issues.
DUNOLLIE HOTEL - BROADFORD
The Dunollie Hotel has views across the sea to Loch Kishorn and the Applecross Hills. There is complimentary WiFi available. Each of the smart and spacious rooms at Dunollie Hotel feature a TV, tea and coffee making facilities and a hairdryer. Some of the rooms also include an en suite bathroom. The restaurant looks out across the water where dolphins and whales can occasionally be sighted. There are similarly splendid views from many of the shore-side bedrooms. The hotel has a bar offering local malt whiskey and ales.
